Nierika
2005: Rather significant year for Nierika. On June 1, Piper Records released the single “Satellite” featuring two songs and two remixes by Reynok and Abuse. Nierika’s line up expanded to six members (two guitars and the bass). In October the band started mixing the second album, which is due to be released in spring 2006. The gigs the six-member band played during winter really rocked.
2004: During 2004 NIERIKA played at about twenty gigs and remixed Veneer‘s, Tata Bojs‘, Alvik’s and Umakart’s tracks in their own studio ANIMAN.
2003: The independent label PIPER RECORDS released Nierika’s debut album "HYDROPONICUM" in December 2003. After several gigs in the second half of 2003 Nierika’s line up finally settled and the band started their work on new tracks. Ever since then has its sound been a bit rougher…
2002: Compared to their previous rather fierce project ÚDERY ÚDY, NIERIKA was sailing on a distinctively calmer pop waves. A female vocalist Monika Lohrerová was invited to join the band. The music wasn’t made in a hurry and the electronic tracks were later penetrated by live instruments. With this line up the band started to take shape as the mix of electronic and acoustic instruments became its major characteristic.
2001: NIERIKA took its electroacoustic roots in 2001 after the return of its founding members (Michal "Bugy" Burget, clarinets and other instruments and Tomáš "Lobo" Neuwerth, drums, programming, vocals and other instruments) from a trip to England where they got hold of the right "gardening instruments". They created their first tracks assisted by “Apple” in their own tailored studio ANIMAN.
The band's title is inspired by the Huichol tribe of Mexican Indians for whom NIERIKA means the gate between ordinary and supernatural reality, which, at the same time, connects and separates two different worlds.
